16.10.2021 - Elvis drummer Ron Tutt has died

Ron "Ronie" Tutt was born on 12th of March, 1938 in Dallas, Texas. He started dancing step as a three-year-old and practiced it for another eight years. During this time, he also developed a passion for playing the violin, trumpet, ukulele and banjo. He gained his first stage experience in the school orchestra, where he played the violin.

At the age of ten, he won the first prize at a ukulele competition in his hometown Dallas.

Ron makes his first professional appearances by playing the banjo in Rusty Brown’s Cell Block 7 Dixieland Jazz Band.

At the end of his high school years, Ron became increasingly focused on drumming. He practiced the drums almost obsessively  and gave up on playing other instruments.

Ron first accompanied Elvis on stage on 31th of July, 1969. He became an indispensable member of the TCB band that accompanied Elvis until his death in 1977.

After Elvis’ death, Ron accompanied music giants such as Roy Orbison, Billy Joel, Little Richard, The Beach Boys, Barbara Streisand, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Kenny Rogers, Bruce Springsteen, Jerry Garcia and Neil Diamond.

He has been touring Europe every year since 2002 with the TCB band and singer Dennis Jale and in January 2012 played in Ljubljana.

Ron left us on 16th of October, 2021 at the age of 83.
